We would like to provide some useful information for your system as follows:

We have noticed that sometimes during the powering up of the system you might get a self-test error message. At the same time, we have noticed an increased number of “TSR OPEN” messages, especially at station # 3 for the HP 56/57 cartridges.

Following a series of detailed tests with the ShopTester and research on the circuit pads we found that these messages mostly occur due to dirty circuit pads, ink, and cleaning solutions that enter into the pads layers.

During the cleaning process, liquids, such as water, ink residues, and cleaning solvents are able to enter the traces (fine wires) between the layers of the pads and cause a short. These shorts in the pads are the reason for the failure messages mentioned above.

To prevent these problems please follow the instructions below:

After cleaning the pads, if you still experience problems during the testing cycle try to clean the pads once again. If the failure message still happens during startup or testing, the circuit pad(s) may have to be replaced. Please also visually inspect the circuit pad(s) for physical damage.

It is of utmost importance that the inkjet cartridges circuits are CLEANED before they are inserted into the ShopTester100. An accurate test result cannot be achieved without clean contacts. Please use the eraser (sent with ST100) in conjunction with the paper towels to clean the circuits.

On our homepage, www.cbr-e.com, we set up a FAQ page to answer and post any questions you might have operating your ShopTester100. You will be able to find additional helpful tips on this page.

With the above information we try to help you further improve the handling of your ShopTester100 and hope you are satisfied with our quality and product support.

Kind Regards,

The CBR-Team
